Even though Google decided to dash our spirits with the news that Google+ is going away, there's one thing that is here to stay: Hangouts on Air! They're the perfect way to connect with your audience on a deeper level, teach something new, sell a product, and so much more. So this week, Sarah and I are diving in and hosting our very first Google Hangout with all of you!
The Challenge:
Our challenge to you this week (in addition to hanging out with us…. if you're down!) is to practice your own Hangout on Air. No…. we're not asking you to compose a 60-minute presentation, bring on an important guest, or do anything crazy complicated. We just want you to do a practice run to get used to Hangouts and feel more confident when it's time for the real deal. (I did my first practice-run with my dog, Gus… no joke! I already feel way more prepared to host a hangout that will actually bring value to our audience.)
I've done my research and given you a step-by-step tutorial to get started with Hangouts on Air.
I'm afraid of all things tech, so if I can do it, you can totally do this!
Let's not wait until show time to figure this stuff out. Add a new skill to your repertoire now, and when it's time for your next big thing, you'll be confident and miles ahead of the competition.
You got this!
Challenge Update:
Our first Hangout on Air was an absolute blast! Sarah and I definitely had some nerves going into the event, but getting to chat live with all of you made it so worth it! We did have some mess-ups with the wrong person showing up on the big screen, but again, everyone was so gracious!
I'm so glad we chose to install a Chatroll box on our site so everyone could chat and connect live. It was great to see new questions and comments pop up as we talked. And since we embedded the hangout on our site right from the get-go, it now exists there on its own great landing page without any extra hassle from us.
I'm definitely a Google Hangout fan now! Not only will Sarah and I use Hangouts in the future as part of our sales strategy, but we'll use them much more often to connect with our audience. Seriously – it was just amazing!
If you missed our hangout, no worries, you can still watch it here. We talked about time management, some podcasting tips, and 10 ways to market your products. For the notes on the Hangout, just subscribe to our email list and you'll see the notes on the Freebies page.
Did you practice your first Hangout on Air? How did it go?
