Hello Brilliant Business Moms!
Boy have you been working hard! You've been shipping out orders, working on blog posts, and attending school concerts. You've been working on your photography skills, touching up on twitter, picking up Pinterest ideas, and preparing your home for Christmas. I know wearing busy like a badge is not a good thing, but sometimes things are just busy, whether we want them to be or not!
Well my friend, you are going to love this weeks challenge: Relax!
That's right. Take a mini break from the business and enjoy time with your family and friends this week. Savor playing with the kids, watching a movie, or reading a book. Just relax as much as humanely possible this week. You will come back to your business rested and rejuvenated, and ready for big plans in 2015.
I realize this mandate is nothing new. Every single blog post this week on every blog will be talking about the importance of rest, slowing down, and spending time with family and friends. But lets actually do it this time. The whole point of us being mom entrepreneurs is that we value dictating our own schedule and spending as much time as we can with our family. So lets live it out this week.
For me, I'm going to work on saying yes more often to playing memory, coloring, painting, Play-Doh, and building block towers. I want to polish off a couple of books, sleep in a little, and watch some great movies. Next week when we have our update post, I want all of you to leave a comment and list all the fun and relaxing things you did on your own and with your family this week. And I want long lists packed with fun and relaxation, short lists are not permitted!
Ok, off to play Barbie Dream House with the kids. A friend of ours just dropped off their Barbie Dream House that their daughter had outgrown, and my kids are loving it, even Sullivan, although he said he would rather have a blue Barbie Dream House. Sorry kid, don't think they make blue Barbie Dream Houses!

Challenge completed! I feel like I have spent a lot of time with family this week and spent some time relaxing! Mike was off from work all week, so it was wonderful to have him at home too.
Early in the week we just spent time together as a family, and time preparing for Christmas with a little light cleaning. We also painted some Christmas ornaments together which has become a fun Christmas tradition. On Christmas Eve, we went to our church's candlelight service and thankfully none of the children caught anything on fire!
Christmas Day was lots of fun. The kids woke us up at 6:00, and we headed downstairs soon after to open presents. We go around in a circle taking turns, so that slows the pace a little. Mike bought me a Fitbit, which I am really excited about! We spent the morning just playing with new toys and then began picking up in preparation for hosting Mike's family in the evening. Mike is one of 9 children, so we have quite a few visitors when we host his family! We had a lovely time with family, and went to bed at 9:30!
On Friday, I did spend the morning doing work, but don't criticize. Podcast episodes don't edit themselves and we have a fun one coming up on Tuesday! Friday night the kids watched Frozen while Mike and I played Settlers of Catan. If you haven't played before, it's a great game, and a favorite around here. Mike and I play it together all the time!
On Saturday we spent the day with my family doing Christmas, and once again playing Settlers. We played as teams of couples, and I am pleased to say that Mike and I won by sheer brain power! (That's a jab at Beth Anne for anyone who cares!) That pretty much wrapped up our week.
What do you think? Did I spend enough time relaxing with the family? Leave me a nice long comment about how you relaxed! And by the way, I would have posted a nice family Christmas picture if I would have actually thought to take a nice photo while we were all dressed up, but I didn't. All I've got are PJ pictures!
Hope you had a wonderful week!
