Episode 5: Facebook Strategies to Increase Engagement and Create a Fun, Vibrant Community

June 13, 2014 by Beth Anne Schwamberger 1 Comment

facebook strategies to increase engagement create a fun vibrant community more comments more likes more shares

This short and sweet episode delivers four Facebook strategies that you can implement today and see immediate results.  They are easy to use, tons of fun, and help you to build real connections with your fans.

Before we dig into the episode, I want to tell you a little bit about the picture above.  These are some of my dear friends, and in this photo we had just surprised Ariel (middle in the purple) with a decorated nursery.  Ariel and Matt had recently adopted Finn, and it was a total whirlwind!  They found out about him on a Friday, applied to be his parents on a Saturday morning and discovered that they were chosen on Saturday night. They met their son for the first time on Sunday morning.  Finn had to spend about 8 weeks in the NICU, so during that time we pulled together to create a nursery for Ariel and Matt.  We actually used Facebook and Pinterest quite  lot to carry out our plans.  There was a hundreds-long message stream between us of all our plotting and planning!  I love this photo, because it reminds me of the community of friends I am so blessed to have.  What's even more remarkable is that every lady in the photo is a military spouse.  One of these ladies (Lezlie, on the left) has already moved across the country.  The rest of us will scatter within the next year or two, but the community we were able to create has been such a blessing.

Now I'm not about to compare the fans on a facebook page to that level of connection and community, but shouldn't that be way closer to our goal than the business-focused mindset so many pages seem to have?  Trust me, we are guilty as well and need to hold ourselves accountable.  More and more, I believe that people are connecting to other people rather than connecting to brands and businesses.

What can you do to create an authentic community on your facebook page?   You'll have to listen to find out!
