Who are you?
I'm the wife of one amazing man and mom of two spunky girls. My husband is a pastor and our family lifestyle and values are very much defined by our ministry in the church. The sentence I've begun using to concisely explains my professional work is, “Helping moms work hard in birth and business.” I like to say that I'm a Virtual Assistant by day and a Doula by night. Even though I was initially resistant to the idea of motherhood, God has greatly softened my heart and made it incredibly tender towards new moms – and towards my own role as a mother.
Describe your family in five words.
Okay, y'all. I love words. So I had to play around with this answer:
Husband loving 3 feisty girls.
Girl mom equals much glitter.
Mom of toddlers drinking coffee.
Serving others in Christ, together.
What do you do for Brilliant Business Moms?
I manage the podcast, which takes a good 50% of my time each week between writing show notes and coordinating interviews. I also plan out our blog and contribute content. I run our Brilliant Life Planner Instagram account, sometimes post for Beth Anne on her personal account, and have a hand in managing our Facebook page. Lots of jobs with words 🙂
When did you first hear about Brilliant Business Moms?
During the pregnancy and baby days of my firstborn, I was working at a flashy marketing agency. Because I'm an auditory learner, I worked well when I had something like a podcast to listen to. (Still true!) In my search for something to listen to while I worked, I stumbled upon this brand new podcast called Brilliant Business Moms. It wasn't long before I started dreaming of becoming a mamapreneur myself. After two years, and many failed attempts, I found the sweet spot for me and my family.
How did you come to be on the team?
Because I was an early fan and community member, Beth Anne and Sarah (at the time!) reached out to me to run a product idea by me. That product was the Brilliant Business Planner – which is now the Brilliant Life Planner. After that initial Skype call, I just kept up with Beth Anne and Sarah. When I was finally getting my footing as a Virtual Assistant, I reached out to Beth Anne to tell her I was available for work if she was looking for a VA. And thankfully for me, she was!
What do you love about working with Beth Anne?
I love how she's always bringing her business, and her team, to new heights. She's an incredibly generous person with herself and others. She's a great role model for other business owners in that way! The success of others doesn't threaten her because she doesn't buy into the mindset that the marketplace is scarce. I also have a deep appreciation for our team email threads that she kicks off, which are always equal parts hilarious and productive – a unique combination.
What's your beverage of choice when you're working for BBM?
I'm a coffee with milk girl in the morning, and usually I'll brew a cup of tea in the afternoon. But let me tell you, Carlee opened me up to new caffeinated worlds during our recent trip to San Diego. If she's around, I'll have an air-pressed cup of coffee with a huge dollop of frothed milk, thank you very much.
